Are You a Mom or Teacher Who Wants to Post on Social Media But Can’t Make Yourself Do It?

If you’re a mom or a teacher who has thought about starting to post on social media, maybe even to eventually make money from it, but you haven’t done it yet, I want to tell you something I wish someone had told me earlier.

It’s not because you don’t have anything interesting to say. It’s not because your life isn’t worth documenting. It’s not because you missed your window or because you’re not young enough or techy enough or polished enough.

It’s because your mind is doing exactly what minds do, and you’re believing it.

Your mind is telling you that people will judge you. That you’re not qualified. That someone is already doing what you want to do, and they’re doing it better. That you’ll say something wrong, look awkward, and embarrass yourself. That you should wait until you have a better camera, a cleaner house, a clearer plan, more confidence.

Here’s what I’ve learned: that voice never really goes away. You don’t wait your way into confidence. You post anyway, and then you realize the voice is just background noise.

I’m a teacher and a mom living in the Colorado mountains, and my mind has told me every single one of those things. It still does today. But I’ve learned that my thoughts are just thoughts. They don’t mean anything about who I am or what I’m capable of, and they don’t have to make my decisions for me.

You deserve to build something that gives you more freedom. More income. More of a life that feels like yours. And the only thing standing between you and starting is a thought you don’t have to believe.

I’m going to keep writing and talking about this, because I think moms and teachers are some of the most capable, creative, underestimated people out there, and most of them are sitting on something worth sharing.

If that’s you, stick around.
