If you have been around my blog for a while, you know this space has always been a reflection of my brain. Teaching. Parenting. Mental load. Side hustles. Travel. Wellness. Stories about my kids. Whatever season I am in tends to show up here.

And honestly, I love that. It feels like home.

But if I look at the one interest that has remained steady through every phase of my adult life, the one topic that never loses momentum, it is wellness.

Why Wellness Has Always Mattered to Me

My interest in wellness started years ago, after losing over 100 pounds post-college and moving to Colorado. That experience reshaped how I thought about my body, my health, and the choices I make every day. Learning how my body worked and realizing I could make choices that helped me feel stronger and more alive changed everything.

That curiosity never faded. If anything, it deepened after becoming a parent.

Why Wellness Content Feels So Complicated Now

Here is the strange part. Despite how much I care about wellness, I rarely write about the topics I find most interesting.

The online wellness space has become loud and polarized in recent years. Simple conversations about immune support, vaccines, or supplements are often framed through a political lens, and suddenly sharing information feels like stepping into a debate I never wanted to join.

This space has always been my calm corner of the internet. I am not interested in political arguments or online chaos here. Life already carries enough noise with young kids, a full-time teaching job, and a side hustle. I believe deeply that wellness should not be political. Caring for our bodies and mental health should be practical, human, and accessible, not divided by ideology.

The Reality of How Families Actually Make Decisions

Many families do not live at extremes.

Sometimes a parent gives Tylenol. Other times they try rest, hydration, or a homeopathic option first. Some years a family gets the flu shot. Other years they do not. Some families vaccinate fully. Others choose a different path.

None of these decisions automatically define a person’s politics or values.

Wellness choices are situational, personal, and nuanced. They shift based on health history, access, and what a family needs in a given moment. When information is presented from only one angle, it can quietly create pressure to pick a side, even though most families are simply trying to make thoughtful decisions for their own lives.

That nuance matters, and it is often missing.

The Kind of Wellness Information I’ve Been Searching For

What I have wanted for a long time is simple. Calm, factual, non-partisan wellness information from all angles. Traditional medicine and holistic approaches on the same page. Updates on studies, ingredients, supplements, recalls, research, and policies that actually affect families, presented clearly, without fear-based messaging or hidden agendas.

That kind of resource is surprisingly hard to find.

Why SmartHERNews Inspired The Well Informed

One of the few places I consistently trust for news is SmartHERNews. The tone is steady. The information is clear. Multiple perspectives are acknowledged, and readers are trusted to think for themselves.

No emotional manipulation. No outrage. Just context.

I’ve never found anything quite like that in the family wellness space.

So I started wondering if the wellness version of SmartHERNews doesn’t exist yet, maybe I’m supposed to build it.

What The Well Informed Is (and Isn’t)

I am not a doctor, medical professional, or expert in public health or policy. The one thing I am truly a professional at is teaching. I have taught kindergarten through fifth grade, and my work has always centered on helping students learn how to think, ask questions, and make sense of information.

I approach this space the same way.

I research widely.
I read across perspectives.
I compare, synthesize, and will explain what we know and what we don’t.

This site is not about telling anyone what to do or acting like I am a doctor. It is about making information accessible, easy to understand, and trusting families to make their own decisions.
