Sanity Snack: Lunchbox Hack for Picky Eaters
Welcome to Sanity Snacks: quick, snack-sized posts for busy moms with full plates.
For the past six months, I’ve been sliding turkey and cheese into my daughter’s lunchbox twice a week. And for six months, it came home untouched. Every. Single. Time.
Then this week, I opened her lunchbox expecting the same old story… and it was gone. I asked if she threw it away. She said, “No, I ate it all! I love it! Can I have it again?”
I nearly fell over.
Raising good eaters is not an easy road for many kids. If you want them to get those nutrients in at a young age, it takes constant exposure and never giving up. I packed a meat stick in her lunch for almost a year before she touched it. Now she asks for them constantly. I always include one food I’m hoping she’ll try and like, even when I know it’s probably not happening for months. The exposure is everything.
Here’s the thing: raising good eaters isn’t about instant wins. The picky phase is real, but just like working out, it’s about putting in the reps. Time. Dedication. Consistency. And one day, the results show up, sometimes when you least expect it.
So keep packing the turkey. Keep offering the broccoli. Never give up on the lunchbox reps. One day, they’ll surprise you.
Let’s not lose our minds together,
Tori
